One-Month Anniversary!!

As of today I’ve officially been here in the Azores for ONE MONTH!!!! I can’t believe how quickly the time has flown by! Part of me feels like a starry-eyed teenager celebrating a one-month anniversary, but for now, I think I’ll just embrace the emotion.  In celebration, I decided to do some crafting:
Aren't my butterflies beautiful!!
Just kidding. I did make those today, but it was in preparation for a VBS we’ll be having in a few weeks.

It seems kind of crazy to me that I’ve already been here for a whole month. Don’t get me wrong. Some moments it feels like I’ve been here for years. Like Chick-Fil-A and American television are memories of some nostalgic past-life. But most of the time, I feel like I just stepped off that plane.  Things still feel new, and I’m definitely still adjusting. Yet, at the same time, each day I’m becoming more and more comfortable in this foreign country, surrounded by the culture and language of people who have turned out to be not all that different from me.

The speed at which these last 30 days have passed reminds me that no matter where we are, our time is limited. Whether in our hometown or halfway around the world, we’re called to make the most of the time we’ve been given. We’re called to share the love of Christ at every opportunity. I’ve had lots of opportunities over the last month, and I’m certain there will be many more over the next 11 months. I’m going to do my best to seize each and every opportunity to serve God and love others here in my part of the world. My prayer is that you will do the same in yours.
